General Information
SAMTRA is a non profit company that houses state of the art deck, engine room and refrigeration simulation equipment designed by Force/DMI Technology of Denmark. Its product offering includes simulation training courses in refrigeration engineering, marine engineering and deck officer training as well as non-simulator courses. As an extension to its core business, SAMTRA also manages the Cadet Training Programs for a few companies. The facility and its courses are Bureau Veritas BVQI (ISO 9001) and SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) accredited, and all simulation courses comply with the STCW 95. Operating in a low cost environment we are able to offer course fees at well below that of similar training institutions in other parts of the world. In addition transport and accommodation can be arranged at low cost. Simulation training has many advantages both to the employee and ship owners of which improving safety at sea is one of the most important. The aim of SAMTRA is to enhance the skills of seafarers from all disciplines in the broader maritime industry including but not limited to merchant marine, military and fishing, through advanced marine technical training courses.
