General Information
MSSTC is owned by Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR). The Centre was established in 1985. The Centre runs short courses for seafarers. Majority of trainees are fishermen. The MSSTC is located onboard the training vessel SAEBJORG (a former ferry) which is located in Reykjavik during wintertime but sails around the coast of Iceland with courses during the summertime. Safety training is required for all seafarers registered on board Icelandic vessels.
