o Description -The University has well designed ships and up-to-date workshop facilities, laboratories, institutes, etc. lt has made great contributions to the development of the nation in the fields of fisheries, marine sciences and engineering, natural science and social sciences. o Brief History -May. 1917 Founded as Yosu Public Miniature Fisheries School -Apr. 1921 Changed to Yosu Public Fisheries School -Mar. 1963 Elevated to Yosu National Public Fisheries Technical School -Mar. 1975 Changed to Yosu National Public Fisheries Technical College -Mar. 1979 changed to Yosu National Public Fisheries Junior College -Mar. 1987 Elevated to Yosu National Fisheries College with seven departments -Mar. 1992 Established the Department of Food Nutrition -Apr. 1993 Renamed Yosu National Fisheries University -Mar. 1995 Established the Graduate School of Industry and Technology -Mar. 1997 Established the Doctoral Program -Mar. 1998 Renamed Yosu National University -Mar. 2002 Established the Department of Electronic Commerce, Department of Maritime Police Science and the Department of Childhood Special Education -Mar. 2003 Elevated to Yosu National University with 4th Collegefisheries.
