THE INSTITUTE OF MARINE The Institute of Marine Engineers (I) is a professional body founded on 3rd October 1980 as a learned society under ACT XXI of 1860 for the Registration as a Literary, Scientific and Charitable society with a view to disseminate knowledge in the latest trends in Marine technology and engineering practices, to its members. Over the past two decades the membership has grown over 5000 members.The Institute has set up its own headquarter & training centre on a 2000sq. meter plot of land at Nerul, Navi Mumbai and the first phase of building is complete and functional. Besides the offices the building houses fully air-conditioned classrooms, a conference room, a library and a hostel with recreational and mess facilities.The Institute functions under the control of its Governing Council through various Sub Committees formed to monitor its various activities.
